HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I ORDER MY CAKE?
As soon as you have your event date, get in touch with the Marbeca Bakery! You can contact us either by phone, email or by using the Request a Quote form. We take on a limited number of cakes per week, as a result the calendar fills up quickly. Please allow at least 1 months notice for celebration cakes, and at least 3 months notice for wedding cakes. At times, orders can be accepted at short notice, so please do get in touch to check availability. In the event we are unable to take your order, we will do our best to refer you to another trusted cake co. that may be able to help.
IS A DEPOSIT REQUIRED WHEN PLACING AN ORDER?
All orders require a non-refundable 35% deposit in order to book your cake(s) and secure your date. Your cake is not considered booked until we receive your deposit. Cake orders placed with less than two weeks notice require payment in full at the time of ordering.
HOW AND WHEN DO I MAKE A PAYMENT?
Payments can be made by online bank transfer, PayPal or cash. Once a deposit is made, your date is secured. Final payment for celebration cakes is due no later than 2 weeks before your event. Final payment for wedding cakes must be made 4 weeks before delivery. If you prefer, payment in full can be made at the time of ordering. For Paypal payments, please request an invoice.
DO YOU DELIVER?
Yes we do! Delivery for celebration cakes and cupcakes is available for a flat rate of £6.50 for deliveries within a 20-mile radius of Holme-on-Spalding Moor. Deliveries further afield will incur additional charges that will be calculated depending on mileage and time to set up your cake. All wedding cakes must be delivered and set up by the Marbeca Bakery unless special arrangements have been made.
CAN I COLLECT MY CAKE?
Collection is available for celebration cakes and cupcakes, but we strongly recommend having your cake delivered if the cake features delicate sugar work or more than one tier. Cakes not only have the potential to be heavy, but can also be very fragile during transport and as a result, easily damaged. If collection is preferred please note - the bakery is not responsible for the cake once it leaves the premises. A signature will be required upon collection to confirm you have received your cake in good condition.
*Collection is by appointment only
CAN I MAKE ALTERATIONS TO MY ORDER?
Your cake is important to us so we ask that you check all the details of your cake sketch and quote to make sure everything is as it should be. If you need to make any changes to your order please contact us immediately. We will assess your request for an alteration and let you know if there is an effect on the price. We cannot refund the cost of any cake orders cancelled with less than 4 week’s notice. Please visit our Policies page for further information.
CAN I BOOK MY WEDDING CAKE WITH YOU IF I'M NOT READY FOR A CONSULTATION?
If you are planning your wedding and do not yet know what type or size cake you would like, you can "save the date" by paying a deposit of £100. This deposit will secure your date with the Marbeca Bakery until your wedding cake order details have been confirmed. This deposit is non-refundable and will be taken off the total price of your wedding cake order once booked.
CAN WE HAVE MORE THAN ONE FLAVOUR IN OUR CAKE?
Of course you can! Each tier can be a different flavour if you prefer. Take a look at our menu to see the variety of cake flavours available. If there's one you don't see that you would like, let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
CAN YOU MAKE A CAKE I'VE SEEN SOMEWHERE ELSE?
We want your cake to be unique to you, therefore our aim is to come up with a design tailored to you and your special event! We can of course look at examples you may have of cakes you've seen elsewhere and work to come up with a design using elements you have seen and liked. If you see a design on our website that you like, we can also work to customise it for your event.
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO STORE MY CAKE?
Once you have taken possession of your cake please keep it in its box placed on a sturdy flat surface until required. Your cake should be kept in a cool room, away from direct sunlight and moisture until ready to display. Please DO NOT PUT IT IN THE FRIDGE, this will cause moisture to attach to the icing and could cause colours to run and sugar decor to go soft. We use no preservatives in our cakes or fillings so left over cake should be stored in an airtight container in a cool place. It will be at it's best up to 3-4 days after your event, depending on temperature/weather conditions.
DO YOU CATER FOR NUT ALLERGIES?
Some of our cakes contain nuts, therefore we cannot guarantee that our cakes have not come into contact with substances that may cause an allergic reaction i.e. nuts.
